More About the Event
Lent is a season of penance, prayer, and conversion. Through fasting, almsgiving, and self-denial, the Church invites us to enter more deeply into the mystery of Christ’s Passion. As we do, suffering, our own and that of others, often becomes more visible and present.
In this Lenten webinar, we will explore how the Church understands suffering, and how Sister Annella offers a powerful witness to suffering, which she did not run from, but embraced in faith.
This reflection will invite participants to consider how suffering, when united to Christ, becomes redemptive. While suffering is a consequence of sin and the brokenness of the world, Christ has transformed it through His Passion, Death, and Resurrection. What may appear contradictory is, in fact, at the heart of the Gospel, when suffering is offered in union with Christ, it can become a source of grace, purification, and even place us on the path of sainthood.
Together, this webinar will provide a time to seek a deeper understanding of how to carry suffering, not alone, not in despair, but with hope, purpose, and trust in God’s plan.
This webinar will explore:
- The Catholic teaching on suffering;
- The power and purpose of redemptive suffering;
- The life and witness of Servant of God Sister Annella Zervas, OSB;
- How suffering can become a path to holiness.
This webinar is for anyone who wants to enter more deeply into the meaning of Lent; especially those who want to better understand the Church’s teaching on suffering, or who are discerning what God may be inviting them to do with their trials and pain. Along the way, we will draw from the life of Sister Annella as a guide and companion, asking with her, and of her, the question, “Sister Annella, what do we do with our pain?”
